We are a voluntary conservation group in Frankley, Birmingham. We support the council's ranger service in caring for Balaam's Wood; 6.5 acres of ancient oak woodland. We also help care for the local balancing lake on the Birmingham Great Park.
We organise clean-ups, improvement projects and help with woodland management.

The Friends have four main aims, namely to protect the Heritage of the Park and to preserve its Natural Character, to promote an awareness of the Park’s Treasures to the public, and encourage Community Use. It also wishes to protect the Park’s environment, by replacing dead and fallen trees; and to encourage the wildlife and protect their habitat.

FoSPA were established in 1950 in response to suggestions that part the Park might be made available for building on. We have a conservation team that performs tasks every fortnight and we have a diary of events including guided walks which are free to the general public.
We are all unpaid volunteers that do it because we love the Park.
